Adventure on the Cedar

A day of roleplaying games, miniatures, and boardgames at the Cedar Falls Public Library.
Made possible through funding provided by the Cedar Falls Community Foundation: Robert and Shirley Berg Fund for use by the Library
Hours - 8am - 5pm in two buildings
8am-5pm - Community Center - registering for games, vendors area, miniatures, all-ages roleplaying sessions, Warhammer 40K demo area, Friendly Meeple, open gaming
9am-5pm - Library - workshops (2nd floor, co-lab), 13+ roleplaying games (2nd floor, meeting room), 18+ roleplaying games (2nd floor, meeting room)
Games will be held in two main locations (the Community Center and the library’s meeting room) and are divided into three categories: All-Ages, Teens and up (13+), and Adults (18+).
Open gaming tables will be available throughout the day. Boardgames provided by Friendly Meeple; CFPL’s copies of roleplaying games available for checkout.

Registration
Fablecon is a free event. You do not need to register to attend. Game sessions and workshops do require registration however. Online registration for these events will be available until midnight of November 10. Further registration for games and workshops will be available starting at 8am on November 15 in the Community Center. Registering - whether online or in person - will also make you eligible for prize drawings.
Let us know what game sessions you would like to attend, along with one or two alternate options. Attendees will be registered for particular games on a first come, first served basis.

Workshops
9am-noon - Intro to Painting Miniatures - Location: Co-lab
Learn the basics of painting miniatures (and maybe a few advanced techniques) from mini painter extraordinaire Tobie Hurst. All materials will be provided and participants will go home with their own mini (or two)! Attendees under the age of 12 need to be accompanied by an adult, in order to participate in this workshop. 1-4pm - Trash to Terrain - Location: Co-lab -
Transform cardboard and other easily procured household materials into fun, simply-built terrain and scenery for your roleplaying and wargaming table with David Hansen. Materials will be provided. Attendees under the age of 12 need to be accompanied by an adult, in order to participate in this workshop. Only one registration slot is required for an adult/child team. 9-noon - Uni and the Hunt for the Lost Horn - Location: Meeting Room, Table 9
The spellcaster Kelek has long sought to harness the rare magic of unicorns to fuel his nefarious ambitions. Recently, he devised a means to drain a unicorn’s innate magic and remove the horn from its head. With a unicorn horn in hand, Kelek will be able to conduct a ritual allowing him to supplant his superior, the evil wizard Venger, as overlord of the Realm. But Venger may have other ideas. The characters must free Uni from Kelek’s minions and stop both Kelek and Venger from misusing Uni’s magic and destroying her horn. A D&D 5E adventure for 4th level characters. Pre-gens provided. 9-noon - Intro to Scarterra - Location: Meeting Room, Table 8
It’s the day after the Beltaine Honey Festival in the Barony of the Bees. Three children are missing and all the local powers that be are either too busy or too hung over to be of any help. If the children are to have any chance of being rescued, it’s up to the player characters.
This is a homebrew High Fantasy genre tabletop RPG using mind's eye theater instead of miniatures or grid maps and using skill-based dice pools instead of classes and levels. Dice and premade characters are provided. Hosted by the game and setting’s developer, Kurt Meyermann.

10am-noon - Blood on the Clocktower - Location: Conference Room (library, 2nd floor)
Blood on the Clocktower is a game of murder and mystery, lies and logic, deduction and deception for five-to-twenty courageous players and one devious storyteller. A social game played in person, seated in a circle, each player receives either a ‘good’ or ‘evil’ token with their unique character on it. Good players share information to solve the mystery whilst evil players lie about who they are and what they know. The good team wins if they can piece together their knowledge, trust each other, and execute the demon. The evil team wins if the demon can sow distrust, evade detection, and wipe out the village.
