Books are amazing! They aren’t merely words written on a page. Books can be teachers, mentors, and friends. They can be a passport to another world, or a window into the life of someone different than us. The library celebrates books all year round, but for one day every other year, we host a special celebration of children’s literature to help nurture lifelong readers: The Cedar Valley Children’s Book Festival.
Our festival will be going to a biannual event and will be moving from the spring to the fall. The next Children’s Book Festival will be in the fall of 2020. The day will include several activities, many repeated so that families can cycle through everything there is to do whatever time they arrive. There will be writing activities, dramatic performances, art projects, music, puppets, and, possibly, author talks—everything will be tied to children’s books. Please check back in early-mid 2020 for details.
